February 26

I went to go see the Blazers play the Celtics with my dad the other day - we were talking about Saturday Night Live, and how there was this fake ad about birth control on, and I just saw it, and I'm laughing so hard I might cry.

Although the Blazers lost the game, I thought the event was good, and I got to scream at Boston about how much I hated them. YA BUSH LEAGUE, BOSTON! COME ONNNNNN. I do love screaming at NBA teams that represent cities I dislike. Also, I got to see Janet Weiss crossing the street in front of my dad's car. He was mad at the time, and I was glad that she walked by because it was a ray of sunshine in my father's storm of road rage.

Something I have noticed is with my increased viewing of Arrested Development, the more I want to change things in my life to be like it. For example, I woke up at 5am this morning and lay in the dark thinking about my job, and I realized that the theme of my field study will be about how Photosynthesis is Magic, and how for my intro I will just put on the Final Countdown song and talk in a deep voice: "Photosynthesis isn't a TRICK, kids - a trick is something a uh... a dog does... for a milk bone?" And no one will get it, and I'll be like "You would think this is funny if you watched this TV show that went off the air a couple of years ago! It's really funny I swear!" Also, when I was watching the Blazers play I would cheer for Steve Blake by putting my arms up in fists like Steve Holt and said "STEVE BLAKE!" I LOVE THE BLAZERS EVEN IF THEY DON'T WIN ALL THEIR GAMES! And I love Arrested Development even if it is not on the air and I just watch 3 hours of it at a time on DVD.

Tonight I went to the dancing at Holocene, and I realized how weird it is to go dancing by yourself. I didn't feel like a freak show, but I also realized that I was like, the only person there who went by themselves. Maybe it is like, too expensive to go by yourself. Anyway, I sat next to JD and Johanna's merch table and watched them roll up t-shirts during the opening set that no one danced at. They played the Pony song by Genuwine though, which is a golden track, so I danced to that. I have to make up for all the Pack Parties I did not attend in middle school I guess.

Prior to dancing, I made brussels sprouts because I saw them on Mark Bittman's New York Times blog today, and THEN I saw them again at New Seasons. It was as if the world wanted me to eat them. So I did. They are good! I never ate them when I was growing up because my dad hates them, so I guess they were banned from our family dinner table - which barely exists. I kind of wonder why spinach quiche could not have also been banned - it's terrible, how dense my memory bank is of "not eating spinach quiche served to me for dinner" SO MANY TIMES. How much quiche did I waste! HOW MANY EGGS AND FROZEN SPINACH PACKAGES. Ugh, I feel like I'm going to go to food waster hell when I'm dead. Anyway, ahoy, sprouts!

It has been really pretty in Portland for the last couple of days, it is Just Crazy. These girls Mary and Nicole came down from Vancouver, BC to attend Oregon Party and they were like, "Wow, Portland is just like Arizona in the winter!" It's not. We are just having luck.

I am excited because Dan is coming back to Oregon tomorrow! He is fabulous! I like talking with him because he says "Abso-LUTE-ly!" when I ask him a question. I will pick him up at the airport at 10.30pm and then we will go somewhere gay and drink. I am sad he is not coming in tonight though because TONIGHT is Gaycation at Holocene with MEN, who are two-thirds of Le Tigre! It's something that I am mentally committing myself to attending.

Yesterday Kelly and I climbed Mt. Tabor and it was aerobic. I was like, We are climbing a mountain. A volcano, even. Anyway, that was an accomplishment. Also, I went to go see a performance of a band called Coyo which my Dad's Friend Corky's Son Tim is in. He plays the guitar, and is the only person in the band with short hair. Coyo was featured on Oregon Art Beat, and I am happy for them.

Happy 149 years, Oregon - you look more classy every year. Today I had coffee with my boss at 8AM, and then I took my guitar to the repair shop to get fixed up, and then I had lunch with my grandparents and my mom. Let me tell you, it was a blast. I did the Jumble and beat it, and then I did errands all afternoon, including hunting down a pony keg, and procuring delightful treasures at Teen Challenge. Amanda and I realized that the logo on their truck also belongs to that STARS program (you know, Students Today Aren't Ready For Sex?), and how that was weird. Tonight I ate steak salad (?) at the Widmer brewery, which was nice, and medium rare.

Also it is Valentine's day, which I know some people enjoy, but I probably won't ever again. If you want to know how I feel about that, you can listen to The Woods by Sleater-Kinney in your car at super high volumes.

Ummm: I accomplished one thing yesterday, and it was getting a new key at Fred Meyer. I got a key chain that is OK, but not that good, from the souvenir section. I also got these EXCELLENT bottles that have flip-tops so I can bottle my beer in them and not have to worry about capping them. Most of them are brown, but some of them are one-liter bottles that are blue glass! I am excited about them.

I have started inviting everyone I see to Oregon Party, it's kind of scary. I just can't stop. At my house we have a neighbor who is very interested in worrying about What the Neighbors Are Doing - she came over and talked to me last weekend about how it was not OK for me to park my car across the street from her house, and informed me that my car had been there for three days, which confused me because public streets are traditionally open for parking. I took this to mean that she is not into change, or disturbances, of any kind. I am slightly concerned about what she will do on Saturday night when many guests enter this house wearing outfits to celebrate our fair state's glory. If the police come, I'm going to have to console them, I guess. I'll just let them know that it's OK to love, and that I love Oregon. You can't argue with that.

I just went to Canada and Seattle for the weekend. I saw Talkdemonic play at this place called High Dive in Seattle, and true to the pattern of bad things happening to me when I go to Seattle, my keys disappeared, and I'm pretty sure they disappeared because they were stolen. I'm really mad about it, but as long as there is a way to replace keys, I guess I'm fine.

Driving back from Vancouver last night, I made a promise that I would make a list of all the celebrities that I want to "get down with." Here are some, in no particular order:

Feist [evidence:]

The Blow

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Both Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in 9 to 5 (their office clothes are SO FOXY)

Cate Blanchett
The woman who plays the viola for Talkdemonic
Tina Fey
Kristin Wiig

Penelope Cruz in Volver
The Fiery Furnaces
Every person on Arrested Development except for Buster and Oscar AND Tobias

My accomplishments for today are going to entail Getting a New House Key Made, bottling Heath Ledger Heavy Ale, and Decorating my Basement for Oregon Party.

You can't comment but you could email me. Sorry.
